The community of Oletta has largely sufficient water resources to allow for its development and demographic expansion. The community is crossed over by the Aliso River as well as several streams located to the Northwest and whose common mouth is located in the Gulf of Saint Florent. The infrastructures of the community’s drinking water network extend for a linear total of 16 km. The network is furnished on one hand from the Aliso drilling site located in the plains and on the other hand, from several catchment areas located on the mountain side.
But its distribution network, partially decrepit, cannot guarantee its main role. As a result, the work to be carried out is completely in line with our approach to protect water resources, secure the supply of drinking water and limit environmental pollution.
Resources
In order to improve the global management of our network, a request to change the decree concerning testing was made with the goal of increasing the volume of hourly testing to provide more water to the plains during the high summer season (that is 40 cubic meters per hour to 100 cubic meters per hour).
Reservoir and recovery bache
It is also planned to renovate the reservoirs of Tuda, Muntaghjo and Guadu in Là, set up a generator at the level of the pumping station in the Aliso river, which will insure drinking water distribution in case of a power cut, and finally, to upgrade the system of remote surveillance to better supervise, in real time, the tidal range of the reservoirs and the flow going through the network.
Network
The work being done will enable us to remove the leaking parts and optimize the network’s efficiency to come close to the 90% efficiency desired.
A network of drinking water for all the farmers on the plains was created as required by the new sanitary standards.
Meters
A total of 5 meters were installed on the collection structures to assess the flow coming from the resources and check if they are in compliance with the authorized flow.
Quality control
The water quality is checked regularly by the services of the Hydraulic Equipment Office of Corsica and transmitted to the Regional Health Agency and to the community.
The community of Oletta has a collective sanitation network, a drainage system, whose purpose is to evacuate and treat waste water.
Waste water refers to blackwater (water coming from toilets) and greywater (water coming from bathroom sinks, kitchen, washing machines…).
They cannot be released into nature because they are harmful to the environment. Therefore, they must be treated before to prevent any pollution risks.
The community takes care of checking connections to the public network of collection, transport and treatment of wastewater as well as elimination of mud produced. It is also responsible for checking non-collective sanitation installations (for example, septic tanks).
Mandatory connection
If the housing was built after the communal sanitation network was put into service, the connection must be made when the housing is being built.
Some buildings are exempt from this connection, especially when it is technically impossible or when the price is exaggerated. This can be the case, for example, for a building located below a sewer.
You need to make a request for a connection exemption on plain paper at City Hall. If you receive a positive response, you need to install your independent sanitation system.
