A major risk comes from a potentially dangerous event happening in a zone where human, economic and environmental issues are at stake and can be affected.
Two criteria characterize a major risk.
– a poor frequency
- an important gravity: numerous victims, heavy damages to goods and the environment
We can distinguish two main categories of major risks:
- Natural risks: floods, storms, forest fires, earthquakes, terrain movement, heat wave…
- Technological risks: industrial risks, transportation of dangerous materials, a dam that breaks…
Sanitary risks can be considered as a major risk, as we can see in the past (bird flu for example) or as we can currently observe with Covid-19.
To cope with the onset of a crisis, the community wrote up its Communal Safety Plan in 2017. This plan explains, under the mayor’s authority, the planned organization for the community to ensure the alert, information protection and support of the population regarding the risks present on our territory.
The community has also updated the Communal Information Document concerning Major Risks which is in addition to the Communal Safety Plan. This document apprehends, in an informative manner, risk management, security measures to take, ways to alert in case of the onset of a risk and safety measures taken by the community for its inhabitants.
A communal civil security reserve has been active in our community since 2012. It brings its support to the municipal team by participating in supporting and helping people in case of a crisis. During the summer season it also participates in wildfire surveillance measures in relation with the Wildfire and Safety Service of Upper Corsica.
