CENSUS

Documents required:

- identity card of the person concerned 

- family record book

- proof of address

Every young French person who is 16 must take part in this census. 

Once this obligation is completed, the young person will receive a census certificate.

This certificate needs to be presented at certain steps (signing up for the baccalaureat (French high school diploma) before the age of 18).  The military census enables the administration to summon the young person to attend Civic Rights and Defense Day which generally takes place one year after having taking part in the census at City Hall.

It is absolutely necessary to go to City Hall to carry out this procedure, be careful because the person concerned must be present to sign the necessary census documents.
