osting certificate

INFORMATION NOTE

A hosting certificate is aj secure document, filled out and signed on site, by any French person or foreigner, who would like to host a foreign immigrant who plans to come to France to carry out, in a family-oriented or private manner, a stay that cannot exceed three months (90 days from date to date).

The foreigner being hosted must fill out a form.  However, the foreigner’s spouse and underage children are named on the same hosting certificate.

The host must submit his request in advance (minimum one month), so that the issued certificate can be received by the addressee within a certain time limit enabling him/her to obtain a visa.  He must then gather together the necessary documents and make an appointment with Oletta’s City Hall (04.95.39.01.09).

After examining the request and a possible investigation, the valid hosting certificate will be given to the host who will take care of making sure it reaches his visitor.

The purpose of this document is to justify the reason and conditions of the foreigner’s stay in France and to make sure the host consents to accommodate him.  It must be presented when the foreigner requests a visa – if he needs a visa – and when there are border checkpoints outside the Schengen space.

Presenting the hosting certificate is an obligation for all foreigners, including those who are not subject to obtaining a visa.   However, there are some foreigners who are exempt from this; foreigners from the European Union, Andorrans, Monegasques, those who hold a Schengen travel visa, valid a minimum of one year for several entries, those who have a residence permit visa tobe requested within 2 months of their arrival, people carrying out a humanitarian project or on a cultural exchange under certain conditions, people coming to France for urgent medical reasons or serious illnesses or for a relative’s funeral, under certain conditions.

The host or the foreign visitor is obliged to take out an insurance policy.

“Covering medical and hospital expenses susceptible to be incurred during the length of the stay in France for a minimum of 30,000 Euros”

“With a repatriation guarantee enabling the foreigner who arrives in France to insure the costs inherent to his return to his country of residency”.
