Paul Peretti School

(1882 Ghjunchettu, - Oletta 1959)

Paul Peretti was born in Ghjunchettu near Sartene.  After studying at a teacher training Institute, he was mobilized to participate in World War I (1914-1918) and took part in the Battle of the Dardanelles.

Back in Corsica, he was named director of Oletta’s school where he taught in the early 20’s until the end of the 40’s.  Then he was director of the Complementary Course for Boys in Bastia.   Paul Peretti made his mark and formed new elites who had brilliant careers such as Paul Guidi.

A member of the Society of Historical and Natural Sciences of Corsica, Paul Peretti wrote a monograph on Oletta as well as on Giunchettu, his native village.  He was an officer of public education, Knight of the Legion of Honor and president of the Association of WWI soldiers from the East.
