François GUARNIERI’s life was entirely devoted to writing, information and communication.

At the end of the 40’s, he created the Corsican edition of Nice Matin, an edition that developed considerably while he was director of the Corsican Agency in Bastia.  During this period, he was able to develop a network of local correspondents and above all, to discover and train many journalists who are known and appreciated today.

He was the first journalist to host a weekly radio show in Corsican, highlighting our heritage, culture and language.  Writing plays, short stories, including:  -Storia Sartinese (Histoire de Sartene)- Faits divers de pays corse (Miscellaneous facts about Corsica)- comedies -un Colpu a Zucca (a Blow with a Pumpkin) earned him his peers’ recognition.

A man of letters and culture, this humanist originally from Sartene, was very attached to our village and highlighted it whenever possible.
